Agriculture Ministry official charged for bribery
The Special Investigative Service finished the probe of the criminal proceedings on bribery and fraud committee by a food safety service official of the Agriculture Ministry. Chief inspector of the service, Hakob Hakobyan, used his powers of being in charge for supervising the veterinary branch in Ararat province and prompted a veterinarian of Ararat village, identified as Armen Manutsyan, to make a false veterinary license.
The chief inspector was offered a bribe by a local of Ararat village for providing a false license for the latter’s livestock. The official accepted the bribe, and tasked the veterinarian of the village, Armen Manutsyan, to prepare the documents.
All three involved individuals, including the food safety service official, have been charged. The case has been sent to the Prosecutor for confirmation and sending to court.
