We are on the right track, we have lot to do: Karen Karapetyan
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan visited the ministry of territorial administration and development, where he reviewed the reforms process of territorial administration, design works of strategic programs for provincial development, community enlargement processes, implementation of investment programs of communities etc.
The PM was briefed that the works of designing the strategies of development for 2017-2025 is being completed, which will be presented for government approval. The main purpose of the strategies are increasing competitiveness of the provinces and decreasing the territorial disproportion.
It is planned that as of 2025 the per capita GDP in each province will exceed 60% of the average republican indicator. 50 thousand high qualifying jobs are planned to be created during the abovementioned period, in addition to agricultural jobs. Only 3 thousand of these jobs will be created during 2017.
The strategy also plans development of territorial infrastructure, boosting tourism, improvement of business conditions and other programs. 160 investment programs comprising all provinces have been elaborated in the recent months. Officials briefed that task forces have been set up, including commercial bank specialists, who regularly visit provinces and hold designing seminars of investment programs with local businessmen. The PM highlighted holding such seminars and said: “In order for this process to be effective, we must be very persistent. We will move towards this direction, we will hold meetings all the time. We must expand the circle of participants of the seminars, we must choose people who have fire and vigor in their eyes, we must present them to the public.”
An international training program for 200 community leaders will begin from June 1. Afterwards the PM was briefed on the results of the newly formed analytical group’s operations, namely in regard to the spending analysis of schools, kindergartens and waste management of several dozens of communities.
The PM appreciated the work of the analytical group and attached importance to digitization of the communities. The meeting also focused on the optimization process of the healthcare institutions in Shirak, Aragatsotn and Kotayk, where over 250 million drams are expected to be saved. Various other issues regarding nearly all branches of the communities were discussed.
“We are on the right path, we have lot to do. You must realize something, that today, by looking at your team we see those people who must undertake coordinated changes in territorial administration. If we wanna have a developed and proportional country, citizens whose necessary household needs are provided, then we must carry our changes.
