Tigran Mukuchyan on Zaruhi Postanjyan’s conduct

Tigran Mukuchyan, chairman of the central electoral commission (CEC), believes the incident between mayoral candidate Zaruhi Postanjyan and police officers in the ruling party’s district HQ on Yerevan City Council election day won’t cast a shadow on the election.

Mukuchyan told a press conference Postanjyan began to act in this manner a day earlier, when her Yerkir Tsirani party made a statement that a ballot safe in a polling station has been moved.

“The district commission chairman went to the polling station at night, I was there personally, representatives of both Yerkir Tsirani party and Yelk bloc were there, law enforcement officers were also called in. As result of studying the case, one thing became clear for everyone, i.e. that moved safe didn’t have anything to do with the safe where electoral documents were kept. We, however, didn’t hear the party deny this, while the continuation was Sunday’s incident,” Mukuchyan said.

“The problem here is that it is simply unacceptable to enter the campaign HQ of another party solely on rumors and some conclusions, and paralyze the people’s work,” he said.
