The latest incident on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops once again underscores the urgent need for the parties to immediately resume negotiations on establishing lasting security and peace in the South Caucasus region, Richard Hoagland, the US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, told Trend.
“Through a successful war Azerbaijan may reach a few purposes. First, Azerbaijanis’ discontent due to high prices and anticipated income will decrease. This is a proven method, e.g. almost after the shift to “free float” regime of manat in January 2016 the so-called “bread protests” have been launched in different regions of Azerbaijan against rise in price. The parties discussed a wide range of issues pertinent to the futher development and strengthening of the Armenia-EU relations. The President underscored that it is proper indeed to speak of joint accomplishments of the last two years.
To be very honest, we are in completely uncharted waters. The Eurasian Economic Union is still evolving, and rules and regulations are changing all the time. I have not seen the text of the new agreement, but I am assured that it does not contradict Armenia’s current obligations under the EEU.
The Defense Army suffered no casualties from the use of the remote control anti-tank by Azerbaijan. Note that today apart from using UAVs, the Azerbaijani side continued to violate the ceasere regime by ring from different-caliber rearms, including automatic grenade launcher (AGS 17 – 10 grenades) and 60 mm mortars (2 projectiles).

As for Moscow, it was in a rather complicated situation, it had to decide something, and there was no intention to decide anything. Thus, the situation, which existed, totally satisfied Moscow, Brussels and Washington. Moscow has special relations with Yerevan and Baku. That’s why Turkey’s role should be taken into account here.”
