Opposition Yelk faction officially nominates Nikol Pashinyan for upcoming PM election
The opposition Yelk faction of the Armenian parliament has unanimously voted for nominating Nikol Pashinyan for the May 1 election of Prime Minister, Yelk MP Ararat Mirzoyan told reporters April 30 after the faction’s sitting in the parliament.
Mirzoyan said opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan will have meetings with other parliamentary factions in the coming hours.
Asked how they will manage to get the votes from HHK, the ruling party which is the majority in the parliament, Mirzoyan said the answers will be given after meeting with HHK faction MPs. He expressed certainty that they will not have problems in this matter. “I believe that for the interest of the state everybody should vote in favor of Nikol Pashinyan,” he said.
Addressing discussions that they aren’t making speeches about their programs at the rallies, Mirzoyan said that the government which will be formed after the May 1 election will be an interim government, and if elected, Pashinyan’s task will be to guarantee free, just and transparent elections through legislative changes.
