President Sarkissian meets Commissioner Hahn, highly appreciates EU support to democratic processes in Armenia
President Armen Sarkissian has held a meeting on January 29 with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, Sarkissian’s Office said.
During the meeting the Armenian president highly appreciated the EU’s support to the democratic processes in Armenia and expressed conviction that the visit will have positive significance for further expansion of cooperation.
“I believe it will be very useful today to speak more about the future and not the past,” the president said. “Each day, today, tomorrow, eventually becomes the past, and if we don’t work painstakingly for making it better, we will waste the most valuable that mankind has – time”.
In turn, Johannes Hahn said that they give great significance to the EU-Armenia relations and that they have come to listen to what projects exist and to understand how they can assist.
The president suggested drawing special attention to the future – projects aimed at the development of 21st-century technologies, emphasizing that it isn’t only IT, but also the utilization of artificial intelligence in different sectors.
Noting that his desire is for Armenia to be a modern and dynamic country, President Sarkissian said: “Whatever it is that we will do in any sector must be qualitative. And it is here where we expect our partners’ support and close cooperation with them”.
