Karabakh summit not planned for now, says FM
A meeting at the level of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders is not planned at the moment, while a continuation of the foreign ministerial level meetings due in the coming months is under preparation, FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told reporters during a joint press conference with Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva in Yerevan.
“We are focused on continuing the foreign ministerial level meetings, which is the basis for preparing a meeting on the level of the leaders,” he said.
He said the agenda relates to both direct issues of the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict and the environment within which the peaceful settlement is taking place.
“Contacts between the leaders took place in Ashkhabad, which was important in the sense that it was possible to reiterate the sides’ certain approaches, principles, which relate also to the atmosphere conducive to peace,” Mnatsakanyan said.
He elaborated that no work is yet being done on concrete terming on paper.
“But this doesn’t mean that we aren’t working around different principles and parameters to clarify how the required proportionality of obligations between the sides can be built. During 27 years different ideas, different documents existed, the most recent being the Kazan document,” he said.
