Pashinyan tasks State Revenue Committee to reinstate customs officer who was fired in flag incident
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has ordered State Revenue Committee President Davit Ananyan to reinstate the customs officer whom he had fired for dishonoring the state flag.
“Dear countrymen, you all remember that during my visit to the Yerevan auto customs house on April 9 I tasked to fire a customs officers (then I found out his name was Hayk Martirosyan) for improper attitude towards the state flag of Armenia,” the PM said in a Facebook post, describing how the officer was sacked after the visit when the Premier saw the national flag in an untidy and dirty condition in a messy office of the customs employee. The incident was broadcast live.
“Today I tasked SRC President Davit Ananyan to reinstate Martirosyan in the SRC system, naturally at his own consent. I believe this period of time was enough for us all to make proper conclusions over the given situation.
P.S. – Since April I have been numerously convinced that there is a task of defining standards for attitude towards the state flag of the Republic of Armenia, ranging from the technical standards of the state flag (what the flag should be like during a ceremony, at the office, outdoors etc) up to the ceremonial raising of the flag and attitude towards it. I plan to issue concrete instructions soon over this matter,” he wrote on Facebook.
