Arush Arushanyan: “The Turks have come, they are seizing 12 houses and the plots of land near those houses in Vorotan village”
Today the enemy is already in the Vorotan village of the enlarged Goris community of Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia (RA). In an interview with 168.am, Mayor of Goris Arush Arushanyan informed that the enemy is currently trying to seize 12 houses in the Vorotan village.
“There is still a danger, and it was expected. The Turks have come and are seizing those 12 houses, along with the plots of land near those houses. Basically, they are seizing a part of the village. The enemy will be on one side of the village, and our population will be on the other side, a few meters away from each other,” Arushanyan said.
Asked if any representative of the Ministry of Defense of the RA is participating in the processes that are unfolding, Arushanyan said the following:
“Let me put it this way: the only entity that has been a part of these processes is the first army corps, which are always present. I don’t know if they are on the spot or not at this moment, but they have always been present in all parts of the village.”
It seems as though the news about the events unfolding in Vorotan and the news that has been circulated in the presses for a few hours aren’t among the primary issues for the government of the RA.
Asked if any government official is in Vorotan or if any government official has made a phone call to ask about the developments, Arushanyan said the following: “No.”
The mayor of Goris also informed that, at this moment, Deputy Mayor of Goris Menua Hovsepyan is on his way to Vorotan to get acquainted with the situation on the spot.
During the government’s session on December 24, Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the activities for demarcation that are underway in Syunik Province and stated that the border-related issues in the Vorotan and Shurnukh villages may create some painful situations.
“There are two settlements that may lead to the emergence of certain issues. The first is the Vorotan community, village, settlement of Syunik Marz, and the second is the Shurnukh settlement where there are certain border-related issues on which we are working round-the-clock, and these issues may create certain painful situations,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
P.S.: Perhaps the government was aware of the already well-known developments last week.
