Azerbaijan initiates ‘border verification’ close to Armenia’s Syunik; negotiations underway – Ministry of Defense

Azerbaijani servicemen were spotted close to the Syunik region early on Wednesday in what was believed to be “border verification activities” at a section lying in the vicinity of Armenia’s southern region.

The troops, however, had to later retreat after intervention and adequate measures taken by Armenian army units, the Ministry of Defense reported. An official statement released this afternoon said negotiations were underway to settle the situation.

The Ministry calls for refraining from unconfirmed reports, warning against any panic among the population.
