Ensure free movement of persons in need of medical assistance, means of livelihood and those left homeles. ECHR decision

On December 21, the European Court examined the request of the Armenian government to apply interim measures against Azerbaijan, reads the message of the Armenian representative’s office on international legal matters.

“Noting that at the moment the issue of Azerbaijan’s control over the “Lachin Corridor” is controversial, as well as taking into account the obligations assumed by Azerbaijan under point 6 of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, in particular, “to guarantee the safety of movement of persons, vehicles and cargo moving through the Lachin Corridor in both directions”, and recalling the obligations assumed by the European Convention, the European Court decided, on the basis of Rule 39 of the Rules of Court, to oblige Azerbaijan to take all necessary and sufficient measures to ensure the movement of seriously ill persons who need medical care in Armenia through the “Lachin Corridor”, as well as the safe movement of people left homeless on the road or in need of livelihood.
