CSTO negotiates on participating in UN peacekeeping missions: Yuri Khachaturov

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) develops practical issues on forming a mandate for taking part in the UN peacekeeping mission in the territories of third countries, CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov told TASS.

He said the CSTO has its own peacekeeping potential (more than 3.5 thousand people) which can carry out peacekeeping operations not only in the CSTO member states, but also in third countries with the mandate of the UN Security Council.

“Currently we are developing together with the UN the practical issues related to legalizing the use of CSTO peacekeeping forces in the UN peacekeeping missions,” Yuri Khachaturov said.
