A citizen of Yerevan has attempted to illegally transport drugs from Iran into Armenia but was caught by National Security Service (NSS) border agents at the Meghri border checkpoint.

Armenia continues to follow the developments in Syria and continues its humanitarian mission, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said on Facebook in the context of the agreements which have been reached about Syria in Sochi.

The Special Investigations Service has charged ex-Deputy Chief of Staff of the Parliament Staff Arsen Babayan with Paragraph 1 Article 38-300 and Paragraph 1 Article 314 of the Criminal Code that in 2018 when he was serving as acting deputy chief of staff of parliament he “assisted the usurpation of powers of the Constitutional Court by a group of persons, as well as committed official falsification,” the SIS said in a news release.

Nairi Hunanyan, who is the leader of the terrorist group in the case of the events of October 27, 1999, is sentenced to life imprisonment and is serving punishment at Yerevan Kentron Penitentiary Institution, has submitted an application with the request for conditional early release.
