Ara Babloyan: They took me out of the operating room and drove me to an interview, after which I returned and continued performing the surgery”
Since examination of the case is in progress, we can’t provide details, but I would like to assure you that what I did was in line with the Constitution and laws. I haven’t violated the law and am ready to be held responsible. This is what former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ara Babloyan told ArmDaily.am, touching upon the fact that the Special Investigation Service has summoned him as a suspect within the scope of the charge brought against former deputy chief of staff of the National Assembly Arsen Babayan.
Ara Babloyan noted that he was interviewed within the scope of the case yesterday.
“They took me out of the operating room and drove me to an interview at the Special Investigation Service, after which I returned to the operating room and continued performing the surgery,” Babloyan said.
Let us remind that Professor Ara Babloyan is a very well-known pediatrician and surgeon in Armenia, as well as the head of Arabkir Medical Complex and the founder of the transplant program in Armenia. He launched the transplant program after the terrible Spitak Earthquake of 1988 when Armenia had no opportunity to save the lives of people who were suffering from chronic or acute renal insufficiency. In 1991, a child underwent a kidney transplant for the first time, and later, both children and adults underwent kidney transplants.
