According to the Bible, Armenia was the first wine-producing region in the world, since it was on the slopes of Mount Ararat that Noah planted the first vine after the flood. Archaeologists agree — at least on the long tradition: a 6,100-year-old winery was discovered not long ago.

“Yes, CSTO is a military-political alliance, the goal of which is to ensure security of the member states. As the founding member, Armenia has always been convinced that CSTO intends to cooperate with NATO. We have not reached any tangible success in this issue yet, possibly because NATO is considered a more organized and acceptable structure. However, we do not observe our interests in the context of contradictions. We always wanted that interests of the USA and Russia coincided, and they had no conflicts.”

There are indices, regarding which we’re among world leaders. For instance, we’re the first regarding mobile coverage: we have 100% coverage. We’re ranked the first in competition in the field of mobile communications. We hold the 8th place in literacy of elder people (99.8% of population is literate). Regarding broadband internet we’re in favorable position as well—24th place.

“In my conviction, it’ll become a benchmark milestone for NATO, it will realize how justified the decisions were , in particular, deploying multinational military units in Baltic countries and in Poland,” Tsintsadze said. According to the latter, although Georgia didn’t obtain what it wanted—NATO membership plan, it recorded a serious progress.”

“A few important issues have been settled at Warsaw NATO Summit. First, NATO is deploying armed forces in Baltic countries and in Poland, which was also planned before. Poland and Baltic countries are becoming full NATO member countries. The verbal veto, which Russia had regarding this issue, was eliminated. Second, the fact, that it has been stated, that Georgia will become a NATO member country, and serious cooperation will be recorded with Ukraine, and here again Russia’s veto was removed regarding the states of post-Soviet space.”

“I think the time will come, when Turks will rather calmly react to this fact, I mean, the Turkish authorities. When we look back, we’ll see that 5,7,10 years ago such reflections were quite different. 10 years ago no one could imagine that Turks could go into the streets on Istanbul or Ankara on the commemoration day of the Armenian Genocide and express solidarity with Armenians. Now all these happen and one cannot turn back to it. Time for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey will come.”

“Recognition of Genocide doesn’t have a Christian nuance, the Genocide was recognized not only by individuals and states professing Christianity, here it doesn’t refer a Christian, but a humanist, a person, who condemns that crime committed against humanity. Of course, in certain cases, in certain issues our neighbors attempt to transfer religious nuance to those issues, depending on the audience,” Serzh Sargsyan, RA president, told at the interview to Arabic Al Mayadeen.

“Armenia’s authorities appeared in a situation not so favorable to them, as NATO, on the one hand touches upon the fact, that it’s not a threat for Russia and is ready for a dialogue with those countries, when Russia will be ready for that. On the other hand, Russia is rather nervous about expansion of NATO and I don’t exclude that Russia will press its partners so that relations with NATO will be reached to the minimum or be completely suspended.”
