On 29 January Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan received head of the General Staff of the Republic of Armenia Armed Forces Artak Davtyan. Issues related to army building and cooperation between the two Armenian states in the sphere were on the discussion agenda.
The Armenian Army was born and formed in the heroic fights of our modern liberation struggle. It restored the glory and reputation of our soldiers had had starting from ancient imperial times up to Sardarapat, to the Second World War where the brave sons of our people, starting from Marshals, Generals to soldiers, wrote their names in the pages of the history of the Great Victory with golden letters.

On January 16, in accordance with the arrangement reached with the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh the OSCE Mission will conduct a planned monitoring of the ceasefire regime on the border of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, in the north-east of Akna.
The Armenians living in Baku were not a threat to Azerbaijan, to its authorities or political forces. All they wanted was to continue living in their hometown where their ancestors had lived. However, they were viewed as a threat by Azerbaijan because of their ethnic origin.
During the period from January 5 to 11 the Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire regime in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact nearly 125 times by firing more than 700 shots from various caliber weapons at the Armenian positions.
