Following the demonstration of the Armenian National Congress on March 1 and processes in Ukraine, in Armenia people did not pay due attention to US Ambassador John Heffern’s announcement in an interview with Armenpress, which contains several important messages.
“Public discussion on Ukraine is all about confrontation. But do we know where we are going? In my life, I have seen four wars begun with great enthusiasm and public support, all of which we did not know how to end and from three of which we withdrew unilaterally. The test of policy is how it ends, not how it begins.
The government would claim the opposite and they’d assure that the complementary politics continues and that Armenia was wise in that regard. Yesterday several media agencies published information about a proposed bill in Russia that would ease the procedures for granting Russian citizenship to Ukrainians, as well as establishing new procedures for joining the Russian Federation. This new bill is connected with the recent movements in Ukraine. Russians openly say that this bill would allow them not only join entire Ukraine but at least parts of it to their territory.
