Total Capacity of “Meghri” HPP to be Diminished to 100 MW

The Armenian-Iranian sides have deviated from the action plan provided for by “Meghri” HPP construction project and now they are revising the technical-economic component of the project. Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Areg Galstyan told about this during a round-table discussion themed “The Eurasian path of Transcaucasia: integration for development”. In his words, conditioned by the diminishing water resources of Armenia, Iran and Armenia have to revise the “Meghri” HPP project.

“The ecological problems that emerged in the recent years due to the reduction of water resources in Armenia and other places have force us and the Iranian side to revise the project by cutting the capacity of the HPP. Now the discussion of 100 MW capacity HPP is underway”, Areg Galstyan said, reconfirming that the construction of “Meghri” HPP will be carried out entirely by Iranian funds.
