Armenia is Ready to Provide Direct Military Support to NKR in Case of Need of Protection

Armenia First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan received Military attachés of foreign embassies accredited in Armenia on April 3.

168.am was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Armenian Defense Ministry that during the meeting a briefing was conducted on the situation of Karabakh-Azerbaijani frontier troops in the line of contact, during which the situation, created as a result of large-scale military aggression by Azerbaijan was clarified. They also discussed possible causes of Azerbaijani aggression and the expectations from the mentioned above.

Armenia First Deputy Defense Minister noted in his speech that the Armenian side is ready for any kind of development and if necessary – up to direct military support for NKR protection.

At the end of the meeting David Tonoyan answered questions of the attendees.

The UN Security Council adopted four resolutions between April and November, 1993, calling for “effective and permanent” ceasefire, as well as “immediate implementation of the reciprocal and urgent steps” in that direction. Armenia has been under effective land blockade not only by Azerbaijan since the early days of fighting in Nagorno Karabakh, but also by Turkey – a staunch ally of Azerbaijan and a NATO member — since April 1993.
