What Serzh Sargsyan Meant by Stating we Shot by Weapons of the 1980s: Seyran Ohanyan Clarifies
“The agreement is mainly maintained, ceasefire regime is maintained,” Seyran Ohanyan, RA Minister of Defense, told reporters today.
Touching upon the statement by Serzh Sargsyan, RA president, that they shot by the weaponry of 1980s, S.Ohanyan said, that main military equipment has been purchased after the World War II, and its types are presently developing little by little.
“What RA president said means, that, nowadays Armenian subdivisions have fought, are fighting now and are able to heroically settle issues they face even by arms of the 80s. This doesn’t mean, we don’t possess other progressive equipment besides that weaponry, which is precise in the mechanism of military restriction. Besides that, when we compare relativity of regional arms, I don’t consider there is essential difference in our military equipment, with the exception of a few cases of quantitative privilege. Due to our soldiers’ careful usage, reserves of arms at our disposal are in a proper condition and during those days, throughout military operations, it provided both defense and targeted shooting of the adversary,” the Minister said.
To the question, that today proof was given that Azerbaijan has resumed military operations, and whether the MOD will introduce it in diplomatic platforms, the Minister said, “Both NK Defense army and we ourselves made corresponding analysis and within it we highlighted all the issues available for the time being, the situation has been assessed, and both positive and weak points have been singled out, so that we might be able to prove, that aggression has been unleashed by Azerbaijan.”
Touching upon evidences, the Minister said that, first and foremost, it’s the short-term movement of the wide-scale military operations, forces and means on the Line of Contact, “And it refers bodies of our killed soldiers, who were in the defensive positions, plus lots of evidence as well. Documents are available from the downed helicopter crew, which prove that they pursued big purpose, they intended to penetrate into the defense army, and proof for it is available. All this will be submitted to the international community. Of course, from legal and humanitarian standpoint as well, together will all mutilations of the bodies of killed soldiers, implemented by the Azerbaijani armed forces or maybe by mercenaries.”
