Which Obstacles are Existent Regarding Armenia-EU Legal Document?
“The EU has been one of crucial partners for Armenia,” Karen Nazaryan, RA Deputy Foreign Minister, told at today’s NA joint session of Standing Committees European Integration and Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs.
He expressed hope, that till the end of ongoing year negotiations with the EU and conclusion of an agreement will be accomplished.
Naira Zohrabyan, Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration, asked which obstacles are available regarding Armenia-EU legal document, which RA MFA Nalbandian has touched upon, “There was an anticipation that political part has been negotiated, as it will mainly repeat the agreement of 2013, which wasn’t reached and only the economic part was to be negotiated.”
According to K.Nazaryan in the practice of international accords to provide negotiations all the parties show cautiousness to create freer environment. He also stated he’s not aware what difficulties Switalski, Head of EU Delegation of Armenia, is talking about, as attitudes and comments may vary on the negotiation process. According to him, after 2013 dynamics is observed both in bilateral and international relations, which should be reflected in the document. The Deputy FM didn’t exclude that such publications may be useful for the negotiations. He stated that after negotiations it will be public and available.
“There is nothing secret,” Nazaryan said.
N.Zohrabyan also asked whether the Minister of Foreign Affairs attempted to invite the Ambassador and understand what obstacles are available.
K.Nazaryan replied that Mr. Switalski made that statement the day before, and they’ll have the chance to meet and understand. Asked about when Armenia-EU agreement will be reached, the Deputy Minister replied that in reasonable time.
