There is no Azerbaijani Army, there is Turkish Army Operating upon Turkey’s Command: Vagharshak Harutyunyan

According to Vagharshak Harutyunyan, former RA Defense Minister, Armenia is in military situation with Turkey and Azerbaijan. He stated at today’s discussion that many observe it from this standpoint and give other assessments to Armenia-Turkey relations, which, according to him is wrong, ”The main threat and the policy led by Azerbaijan is created not in Baku, but in Istanbul. There is no Azerbaijani army, there is Turkish army operating upon Turkey’s command.”

Former Defense Minister stated that Georgia and Azerbaijan took the European direction, and intended to get involved in the European Union, from which the state like England is leaving, and Armenia took that direction, and, as a result, according to him, we have a powerful army, which is able to oppose Azerbaijani army despite their military equipment, “The Azerbaijani army is not able to fight although it has invested billions of dollars and sent its officers to Turkey to get education, where they were taught not martial art, but anti-Armenian propaganda. Those very Turks did that.”

In his words, the region has always been calm, when Russian Empire or the Soviet Union were leading there, “The very moment Russia left that region or the Soviet Union collapsed, wars have been initiated. We have been at war for over 25 years. The only thing, which may freeze the situation, may be a united organization, engaging regional states. However, today I consider this less probable, as there are many players acting against it. First and foremost, if we intend to establish peace in the region, we need to invest all our efforts to shrink Turkey’s influence in this region. As long as Turkey is here, there will be no peace in the region. It appears as a state-terminator not only in the Caucasus, but in the Middle East as well. It destroys all the states.”
