Power Blasts in Ankara

Powerful blasts were heard in Ankara, Ria Novosti reported. A military jet flew over the city before the blasts occurred. Doğan news agency writes that tanks are being deployed nearby the parliament of Turkey. The military are firing in the direction of the capital from helicopters.

Turkish military have announced that the power completely passed into their hands, AP reports. It is mentioned in the statement issued by the military that a necessity for a coup arise in order to “restore constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms, and rule of law and order to prevail in the country again”. The statement also mentioned that all the international treaties and commitments of Turkey remain in place. “Our commitment to have friendly relations with all the countries of the world will be preserved”, reads the statement.

Earlier had been reported that shooting was heard in Turkish capital Ankara, military helicopters and jets were flying over the city. Turkish PM Binali Yildirim announced that a coup attempt took place in Turkey. There is information that one of the helicopters fired at the building of national intelligence.
