4 Persons Remained out of 9 Hostages: Deputy Police Chief

During the protest ongoing on Freedom Square member of “No to plunder” initiative Maksim Sargsyan informed that two activists are currently in hospital, shoulder of one of them has been broken.

Avetik Ishkhanyan, Chairman of Helsinki Committee of Armenia, said that relatives of the detained should approach their representative Rima Sargsyan, as they’ll provide legal assistance to them,

“It would be proper that the Deputy Police Chief came to negotiations the sooner the better. We need clear guarantee, that force won’t be exerted towards the group, all the detained are released, and the policemen, who are guilty in today’s illegalities will have to answer,” he said.

Hunan Poghosyan, First Deputy Chief of RA Police, heard A.Ishkhanyan questions and said,

“It was an armed attack, as a result of that attack a policemen has been killed, policemen got injuries, after which the police continues negotiations with the plotters, we have an officer for negotiations. For the time being, 4 persons remained out of 9 hostages, it’s a result of negotiations of the police, and why not, manifestation of their goodwill. In response to their manifestation of goodwill, there is proper attitude by the police. At the moment, while they’re negotiating, there is no any decision to take any measures, and I think, there won’t be such a decision,” Hunan Poghosyan said, promising that the detained will be released.

He also guaranteed, that nothing will happen to the peaceful demonstrators, ‘I ask you not to divert from the planned route.”

Maksim Sargsyan, member of “No to plunder” initiative informed, that they’re moving from Northern Avenue to the Republic Square, then they’ll return to the Freedom Square from Amiryan Street and Mashtots Avenue.
