Jirair Sefilian’s Message from Penitentiary

“Dear people,

I inform you that throughout last 3-4 days negotiators have visited me, who were people I know and respect. They visited me after the meeting with Serzh Sargsyan.

The negotiators visited me twice and once called and informed that Serzh sargsyan didn’t change his position and is of the opinion, that the gunmen should lay down the arms, only after which meeting between me and him will occur.

From my side I informed them, that I also remain loyal to my position, that purpose of my meeting with the gunmen is finding the reasonable solution.

I should meet the gunmen first, after which I’ll only meet Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of which only the gunmen may lay down the arms. I continue insisting on my position.

Not coming to an agreement with Serzh Sargsyan is having serious implications on our nation, for which I’m deeply sorry. We are in one boat, which Serzh Sargsyan wants to sink.

His not coming to an agreement and application of inexorable methods edifies this.

Contrary to this, as well as insidious actions against Sasna Tsrer and Armenian people, I remain open for cooperation, purpose of which is suspension of bloodshed as soon as possible.

Thus, the whole responsibility of occurrences in the Republic of Armenia lay on Serzh Sargsyan.”
