There are sensitive issues both for Armenia and the EU, solution to which, of course, can be found: 4th round of Armenia-EU negotiations has been launched

The fourth stage of negotiations around Armenia-EU framework agreement was launched in Yerevan, which will be focused on coordination of texts regarding issues of trade and investments. Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, and Garegin Melkonyan, First Deputy Minister of Investments, told reporters today.

“We’ll be able to agree greater part of the texts within these discussions,” Garegin Melkonyan said. The Deputy Minister also said that the document includes more than 10 fields—transparency, issues related to goods, trade, customs issues, trade technical hindrances—certification, sanitary, mental ability protection and other issues, moreover, the Armenian side anticipates to include the issue of investments as well.

“These days we’re organizing the fourth round of negotiation on trade and investments. I assess the work, implemented throughout recent months, rather positively and constructively,” Melkonyan said, adding that there are sensitive issues for both sides, solutions to which, naturally, may be found. “I consider, in visible future we’ll be able to come to an agreement through discussions,” The Deputy Minister said.

In his turn, Piotr Świtalski stated that to negotiate with the Armenian side the negotiation team arrived from Brussels, with which he’ll meet this evening. “Due to the Deputy Minister I was informed on the progress, I consider, it’s very important. Dear friends, this week is a busy one, plenary negotiations were to be held around the framework agreement, however, due to difficulties the EU delegation missed the next plane, thus, negotiations will be launched tomorrow. I may only state that presently main focus is on the components of trade and investments,” Ambassador Świtalski said.
