980 vehicles imported to Armenia from EEU member countries

The vehicular customs department of the State Revenue Committee is carrying out consistent works on improving service and facilitating procedures.

Head of the vehicular customs house Babken Ghazaryan says several changes have been made in the procedures of customs registration at the instruction of the Prime Minister and SRC President.

“Particularly, when previously the brokerage service was only filling the declaration, while the remaining procedures were left to the citizen to implement on his own, now according to the new regulation the owner of the vehicle submits the document package to the brokerage service, which provides all other procedures in 20 minutes, the overall procedure last 30 minutes,” he said.

Accompanying cargos of the vehicles are also registered on spot, as opposed to the previous regulation when the cargo was being sent to the customs warehouse and later to regional customs department.

“As result of the new reforms, vehicle owners have now the opportunity to review the international price propositions of imported vehicles in the customs house with customs professionals. Through similar working manner the customs value is being specified more accurately, ruling out the possibility of optionally deciding the custom clearance tariff, the procedure becomes more transparent, public and predictable,” the official added.

In terms of statistics, Ghazaryan says imports of vehicles have increased by 30 percent as compared to the beginning of the year, 1820 vehicles have been imported in October from 3rd countries  – providing 1 billion 480 million AMD – and 980 vehicles from EEU countries.
