The fact that Armenia-EU agreement will be concluded, is already success, an impetus, that Armenian Government sends to the EU: Matthias Kiesler

“Armenia-EU relations are developing successfully,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia, told at today’s press conference, reflecting to EU-Armenia negotiations. Ambassador Kiesler stated that recently Armenia-EU negotiations are successfully developing, next meeting will be held in December.

In his assessment, the very fact that such an agreement will be signed, is already success, a signal, that Armenia’s Government makes reference to Europe, Germany and other EU member states, an impetus, that Armenia intends to go to modernization, reforms, an impetus, that in that way the EU is a crucial partner.

“I’m sure that the EU, separate EU member states are more interested to send new signals to this cooperation, the agreement to be signed. This is news, which may boost European businessmen to implement their economic programs here, these may be rather positive news for the development of this field,” Kiesler said.

According to the latter, after the summer stage of negotiations a considerable progress is observed, particularly after the negotiations in November. The Ambassador stated that he can’t mention when signing of the agreement will be brought to life or become definite.

“There is an impetus from the side of the Armenia’s Government, that the agreement will be signed in the spring of the forthcoming year. I would single out the point on visa facilitation from the agreement to be signed with the EU, I share big desire of Armenian citizens to travel to Europe by a facilitated procedure.

However, it’s not yet clear when the dialogue will be launched regarding visa facilitation regime between Armenia and the EU. Prior to official launching of negotiations, each country may implement certain steps to that end, this will greatly facilitate the path to the official stage,” the Ambassador said.
