Netherlands TV airs films about Armenia
With the assistance of Armenia Development Fund and the Armenian Embassy in Netherlands, the BNN public TV aired two films about Armenia after the filming crew of “3 op Reis” travel program visited Armenia.
The first film of the travel reporters depicts Yerevan’s Vernissage, the Cascade, Republic Square, the Chess House, Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, the Genocide Museum-Institute, and other locations.
Asked “why are Armenians so good at chess”, Olympic Champion Tigran Petrosyan responds by saying Armenians play chess for leisure and one can notice men playing chess in many neighborhoods of Yerevan, trying to teach the younger generation.
Asked why chess is being taught in schools, Petrosyan says : “We believe that children who learn to play chess from an early age develop unique ways of thinking, they are more creative in finding solutions for problems”
The ADF informed the second film depicts Armenia, outside Yerevan. The reporters from Netherlands head to Sevan on train, engaging in frank conversations with passengers. They present the charm of Sevan, visit the Noratus complex of cross-stones, and reach Noravank by hitchhiking.
The reporters are also being hosted by an Armenian family, they learn a few Armenian words, they closely follow the distillation process of vodka, taste and try to resist the “effect” of 60% mulberry vodka. Presenting Armenia’s tourism attractions, they look at the magnificent view of the Armenian nature from the world’s longest cableway, and the film ends with the mesmerizing Tatev Monastery.
