Besides border shootings Azerbaijan has no other option to impact on the situation
Alexander Iskandaryan, political scientist, considers border escalation a manifestation of Azerbaijan’s miserable condition.
Iskandaryan told reporters if Azerbaijan doesn’t shoot, it won’t have other means to influence on the situation. “Azerbaijan got ready for April for 22 years, USD 20 billion was spend throughout recent 3-4 years, much armaments have been purchased, probably, foreign advisors have worked as well. They used the factor of unexpectedness. And there is no any result, one year has already passed. In this case what else should Azerbaijan do to add fuel to the fire, e.g. Lapshin’s case? It shoots as there is no any other option,” the political scientist said.
He stressed that under such state of affairs it’ll be difficult to reach establishment of peace on the border. “We just need to strengthen positions, the army and the border to be more ready to these escalations, which may occur in future. We just need to look into the eyes of the reality that no positive changes will happen, and be ready for that,” he concluded.
