French Foreign Minister accused Russia of cyber attacks on mechanisms of presidential election
Jean-Marc Ayrault, the Foreign Minister of France, has accused Russian authorities of organizing the alleged cyber attacks on website and email of French Presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron. He reported this in an interview to Journal du Dimanche, the Telegraph reports.
“It is enough to watch which candidate – Marine Le Pen or François Fillon – is supported by the Russian Federation throughout presidential campaign in France,” he noted.
Ayrault stressed that Emmanuel Macron, a pro-European presidential candidate, was exactly the one to suffer. “This form of intervention in democratic life of France is unacceptable, I totally reject it,” he claimed.
According to the Foreign Minister, France will not allow its choice to be dictated, while the main rule for carrying out presidential campaign is “non-interference in the personal affairs” of other parties.
