Passenger vehicle imports to Armenia increase, while customs value decrease

33 thousand passenger vehicles were imported to Armenia during 2016. According to the Customs Service, in 2015 the number of passenger vehicle imports comprised 27.3 thousand – meaning the number in 2016 increased by 5,7 thousand.

In 2015, the customs value of the imported vehicles comprised 133 million 421 thousand USD, while in 2016 – 130 million 601 thousand USD.

The customs value of the abovementioned cars decreased by 2 million 821 thousand USD, or 2,1%. Despite the increase in quantity of imported vehicles in 2016, the customs value decreased compared to 2015.

If the customs value for 1 imported vehicle in 2015 is averaged, it will comprise 4 thousand 890 dollars – while in 2016 – 3 thousand 960 dollars. According to the Customs Service, in addition to the passenger vehicles, 1.8 thousand cargo vehicles worth 25 million 714.7 thousand USD in customs value were imported in 2016.

In 2015, 2 thousand cargo vehicles were imported with a total customs value of 24 million 870.2 thousand USD.

In this case the picture is opposite – the number of imported cargo vehicles in 2016 has decreased by 200 compared to 2015, while the customs value has increased by 844.5 thousand USD.
