Samvel Babayan accepts their involvement in illegal circulation of mentioned ammunition: Prosecutor General’s Office

As a result of implemented measures by the National Security Service of Armenia on March 22, 2017 Igla antiaircraft missile complex and “9M39” missile of the antiaircraft missile complex have been uncovered.

A criminal case has been launched pursuant Part 2, Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (illegal procurement, sale, storage, transportation and possession of weapons, ammunitions, explosive substances or explosive devices, by a group of individuals, by prior consent) and Point 1 of Article 2 of Article 235.1.

Three persons, including citizen of the Republic of Armenia Samvel Babayan, have been arrested.

Although persons accused of implementation of crime didn’t accept their guilt, however, Samvel Babayan accepted their relation to illegal circulation on mentioned ammunition and provided information on its circumstances.

Upon decision of March 24, 2017 2-month arrest was applied as a precautionary measure.

As Prosecutor General’s office informs investigation is underway.
