Samvel Babayan doesn’t consider himself a political prisoner: Lawyer
“Samvel Babayan doesn’t consider himself a political prisoner. A criminal case has been initiated, investigation is underway. We deal with facts,” Avetis Kalashyan, Samvel Babayan’s lawyer, told “Azatutyun” today.
“As for the criminal pretext, I consider for the time being, it’s too early speaking of it, until now I have no ground to suppose, that this bears a political nature. If investigation is objectively held, I consider it objective at the present moment, i.e. violation of Samvel Babayan’s rights wasn’t recorded,” the lawyer said.
Reflecting to statements by ORO alliance members, who consider him a political prisoner, the lawyer stated it’s their opinion and they have the right to express it.
The lawyer refused to open the brackets and clarify what relation Samvel Babayan has to people smuggling an IGLA surface-to-air missile system to Armenia.
