The Culture Trip includes Armenia in the list of 10 oldest countries in the world

The Culture Trip website included Armenia in the list of oldest countries and nations in the world.

The website writes Armenia is well known for its great Diaspora. It says Armenians have possessed a country for most of the last 2600 years, with the first mentions of Armenia occurring in the 6th century BCE.

“Yerevan, now the capital of Armenia, was founded as far back as 782 BCE. The Armenians were also the first state to officially accept Christianity as a state religion in 301, and the country still adheres very strongly to their own Armenian Apostolic Church,” the Culture Trip writes, adding that in 1915-1916 a genocide was perpetrated against Armenians at the hands of Ottoman Empire.

Except Armenia, the list of oldest countries and nations in the world includes Greece, China, Portugal, France, Japan, Iran, San Marino, Ethiopia and Egypt.

The Culture Trip is one of the internet’s fastest-growing media start-ups, attracting more than 5 million monthly readers and 1.5 million followers on social media around the world. It has offices in London, New York and Tel Aviv.
