After years of injustice, after years of apathy we wanted to participate to help create justice in Armenia: Serj Tankian

“We want to support in creation of justice in Armenia,” Serj Tankian, prominent American-Armenian rock musician and songwriter of “System of a Down”, told reporters today in Yerevan, sending some messages to Armenia’s voters ahead of upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled on April 2.

He said it’s an honor to be in Armenia and participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections as an observer.

“We were afraid of what might happen in Armenia given the “Sansa Tsrer” situation and given escalation of tension inside the country, after years of injustice, after years of apathy we were afraid and we wanted to participate to help create justice in Armenia, to help justice endure within Armenia. My participation is a small participation of a Diaspora input as a monitor, we are here to support you,” Tankian said. The world-famous rock musician informed the day before they were trained in Transparency International to be ready for the observation mission.

He stressed it’s very important that people knew they have no interest in voting, as they have no right to vote in Armenia, they aren’t participants and non-partisan. “People blame each other of being east or west, we don’t give a damn. People’s will and desire is important for us in these elections. We don’t sympathize any political power. We aren’t professional observers, our mission is inspiring you to come and vote.”
