MEP Frank Engel expects active steps from France in Minsk Group

MEP Frank Engel (Luxembourg) wishes that regardless of who will be the President of France, he/she will use the opportunity that France is an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing country and will make proposals over the negotiation process.

“If there must be a progress, and all sides will accept it which can happen thanks to the Co-Chairs, they need to do something in this case. As of the moment I don’t see anything more.

I don’t see major engagement either from the US, Russia or France, in other words, no one acts. I hope France will come to a conclusion that it must denitely play more active role in this context, and it’s not necessary that this must be done with an approach very close to the Armenian side,” he told “Armenpress”.

On April 23 Emmanuel Macron won the rst round of French presidential election with 23.75% of votes. National Front party leader Marine Le Pen received 21.53% of votes, becoming the second candidate who passed the required threshold for the second round. The second round of the presidential election will be held on May 7. The 25th President of France will be elected based on the May 7 results.
