Armenian PM participates in CSTO summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The session of the CSTO Collective Security Council kicked off today in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, chaired by Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
The session is attended by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Welcoming the session participants the President of Kyrgyzstan introduced the works done recently. In particular, he highlighted the works on strengthening the combat preparedness of the armed forces. Sooronbay Jeenbekov highlighted Russia’s role in upgrading the types of weapons. He also attached importance to the actions against drug trafficking, highlighting the active participation of the regional structures.
“Today the CSTO chairmanship will be transferred to Russia. I am confident that Russia’s chairmanship will give a new impetus to the organization. By using this chance I would like to congratulate Vladimir Putin on assuming this chairmanship, wishing great achievements. Russia’s assuming the CSTO chairmanship coincided with the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War. Undoubtedly, May 9 is the day of our common victory. We should not forget our common history and should jointly act against the attempts of re-writing the history”, the President of Kyrgyzstan said.
