Anna Vardapetyan shuffled off the blame on to the Investigative Committee: In the wake of the Prosecutor General’s remarkable announcement
MP Gegham Manukyan from “Armenia” faction asked Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, who yesterday brought the motion for permission to initiate the criminal prosecution against Mher Sahakyan, an opposition member of the National Assembly (NA), whether the Prosecutor General asked Nikol Pashinyan for advice or help regarding Mher Sahakyan, because it is known that the Mrs. prosecutor is known for the shameful case of interfering in the criminal case of Rafik Hayrapetyan, the son of former FFA president Ruben Hayrapetyan, when she was Nikol Pashinyan’s assistant. Moreover, Anna Vardapetyan personally wrote or edited Rafik Hayrapetyan’s accusation.
Anna Vardapetyan, who apparently was nervous yesterday, first said that there is a final judicial act in this regard, therefore, she considers all discussions on the issue as speculation.
“And secondly, I was not the initiator, but the request was addressed to me to discuss the issue in the professional field related to assessment,” Anna Vardapetyan stated.
Let’s remind again, that March 10, 2021, 168.am made a scandalous publication about Nikol Pashinyan’s legal affairs assistant Anna Vardapetyan interfering in the preliminary investigation of criminal cases against businessman, former president of the Football Federation of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan and his son Rafik Hayrapetyan, making corrections to the cases in the materials, and thus instructing the main doers.
We published facts, in particular, regarding the fact that the investigator in the case, i.e. Artur Ayvazyan, and the head of the criminal police department, Ruben Davtyan, received instructions by e-mail from Anna Vardapetyan regarding specific decisions, in particular, regarding the involvement of Ruben Hayrapetyan and his son Rafik Hayrapetyan as accused.
The very same investigator Artur Ayvazyan, according to the videos, was passing on bank secret information to Anna Vardapetyan.
Almost a month after that publication, there was new information leakage. A recording was published in which Arman Abrahamyan, deputy head of the Serious Crimes Department of the Yerevan City Investigation Department at that time, Armen Margaryan, informs the investigators investigating the cases of former officials in a voice message that Nikol Pashinyan’s adviser Anna Vardapetyan will go to the investigative body again.
“Good morning everybody. Attention, please.
The Prime Minister’s advisor Anna came here and there were discussions about the cases, and there will be another discussion on Tuesday, she will come at 10 o’clock. And make sure to avoid finding out that nothing is done in these cases,” says the assistant to the deputy head of the serious crimes department of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Anna Vardapetyan announced to the public yesterday in the National Assembly that the investigators themselves asked for her advice regarding the assessment of the criminal case.
The same Anna Vardapetyan, who appointed a specific day and time, in fact, to give specific instructions in specific criminal cases, went to the SJC (Supreme Judicial Council), met with the president of the SJC, now she says that the investigators asked her.
Meanwhile, yet 168.am wrote on April 5, 2021, that Anna Vardapetyan’s diligence in “giving advice” clearly annoys the law enforcement system, and the “additions” that were made were the proof of that.
By the way, months ago we also wrote about the reason for the existing acute conflict between Anna Vardapetyan and the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, which, by the way, according to information, continues to this day.
Let’s remind, that Anna Vardapetyan actually did not stop demanding references in separate criminal cases even after the scandal related to Ruben and Rafik Hayrapetyan, and one day one of the deputy presidents of the Investigative Committee forbade Nikol Pashinyan’s former advisor to provide any reference in any case at all.
Anna Vardapetyan’s criticisms of the IC do not stop even today, and they are often noticeable even in the official messages of the prosecutor’s office.
Perhaps, in that context, Anna Vardapetyan did not miss the opportunity to “bully” IC once again.
