ARAM ABRAHAMYAN RECEIVES FIRST “ARMEN DULYAN” AWARD
The Union of Journalists of Armenia and the award committee have announced the results of the voting for the “ARMEN DULYAN” AWARD.
From the outset, it had been decided that the committee would select a distinguished journalist whose professional achievements and high standards had stood out throughout an entire career. Therefore, no public applications were accepted for the competition.
A special jury was formed to determine the recipient of the award, consisting of:
1. Satik Seyranyan — President of the Union of Journalists of Armenia, Editor-in-Chief of 168 Zham newspaper and am, Chair of the Jury
2. Vardan Aloyan — Producer at the Sputnik Armenia Press Center
3. Hakob Badalyan — Political analyst and columnist
4. Armen Baghdasaryan — Political analyst and columnist
5. Narek Galstyan — Founder and Editor of am, political commentator
6. Alisa Gevorgyan — Journalist
7. Harutyun Harutyunyan — Director of Channel 5 TV company
8. Artak Herikyan — Head of News Service at Channel 5, TV host and commentator
9. Davit Sargsyan — Journalist
Today, on the birthday of the renowned journalist and publicist Armen Dulyan, all nine members of the award committee unanimously voted to present the inaugural “Armen Dulyan” Award to noted columnist and founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Aravot daily, Aram Abrahamyan, in recognition of his decades-long principled and creative career, his commitment to honest and impartial journalism, his personal integrity, his dedication to passing professional values on to colleagues and younger generations of journalists, and his distinctive journalistic style.
In 2025, one year before the launch of the award, Armen Dulyan’s family and colleagues initiated the creation of the original award statuette, based on which the Union of Journalists of Armenia will produce annual replicas to be presented to future laureates. The original bronze statuette was created through a public fundraising campaign on the reArmenia platform. The author is young sculptor Arman Hambardzumyan, who fully transferred the copyright of the statuette to Armen Dulyan’s family.
The 2026 replica of the award statuette was also produced by the sculptor and handed over to the Union of Journalists of Armenia.
To support the organization of the “Armen Dulyan” Award ceremony, the Union of Journalists of Armenia has announced a public fundraising campaign.
The recipient will receive a monetary prize of 600,000 AMD along with the 2026 replica of the award statuette.
Details regarding the official award ceremony will be announced in the near future.
