You repudiate your nation then confess you’re guilty? – the demonstrator to Oskanian
“I definitely see solution to this issue, for this very reason I’m here with my teammates to talk to the Police and say that it’s time to bring the issue to the political community and attempt to give political solution to the issue,” Vartan Oskanian, former FM, head of newly-formed “Consolidation” political party, told reporters in Khorenatsi Street.
He stated that he denies the idea that the situation is at a deadlock and it has no solution.
“Every question has its settlement. It may be at a deadlock, if we observe the issue only from the interests of the authorities. Yes, if the authorities want to come out victorious from this, in this case, the situation is really at a deadlock, and it may have rather upsetting implications, however, this is not the issue to win.
We should be able to put the issue on national, state level, and not narrow political, party, authority. This is beyond all these. If we observe the issue only on legal platform, of course, this may raise complicacies.
The issue should be observed on a political platform, this is a political action, and political solution should be given to it, of course realizing that political solution, yes, will have some legal implications, which will be acceptable for both sides. Yes, political solution with legal implications.
If at this proper moment they say—no, we won’t negotiate with criminals, terrorists, then I want to pose the following question to the authorities: can the protocols be negotiated with Turks, who massacred 1.5 million Armenians, can they negotiate with Azerbaijan, which unleashed war, beheaded our compatriots, and with this men, who liberated Karabakh they can’t?” he said, adding that the authorities took a tough position, it should be softened, put on a political platform and provide solution.
He also added that a commission should be established and negotiations launched through mediators. Oskanian was obviously discontent with accusations by the citizens, one of them blamed him in sins with former and previous authorities, and Oskanian replied, “I guilty in what I have done..”
“You repudiate your nation then say you’re guilty?” the demonstrator said to Oskaian.
Then Oskanian concluded, “I handle negotiation nuances and I clearly observe solution. Like it formerly happened to me, I fell, this is a critical moment. Both sides should manifest political will. We should start negotiations and I see solution to it…”
Reflecting to the question when Oskanian edifies his crisis experience, whether he meant March 1, former FM replied, “Yes. If I were among the authorities now, I would do what I did on March 1. Nobody needs bloodshed. We shouldn’t allow this, especially after March 1.”
