A Message should be Sent to our Authorities, so that Relations with Russia and other EEU Member Countries were Reviewed: Boris Navasardyan

“Target of pressures against the civil society are Armenia-West relations,” Boris Navasardyan, Head of Yerevan Press Club, told 168.am , reflecting to deportation of Stepan Grigoryan, head of the Centre for Globalization and Regional Cooperation, from Russia, as well as “declassifications” disseminated by “the Armenian Diaspora representatives.”

Boris Navasardyan said, that pressure is exerted against Armenia’s authorities, so that they restricted the activity of the civil society to some degree, particularly by the model, which is done in Russia and in some EEU or CIS member countries.

“People, who disagree with the authorities in many issues among our society, have a crucial role, they’re not acceptable to Armenia’s strategic ally, as at least for us it’s obvious that behind all the statements and footages Russian services are observed, and it’s less probable that representatives of the Armenian Diaspora initiated such a campaign upon their own initiative. This means, there is a demand to provide such political assessments to representatives of our society, and in fact, here a serious contrast is observed, how we treat our citizens in Armenia, and how they’re treated in Russia and different circles of Russia’s allies, including in Russian Diaspora as well.

This one again proves that Armenia has nothing to do in this geopolitical camp, and there are neither common values, nor purposes, nor interests, so as they attempt to hint to our authorities, that they exerted pressure towards people with non-Eurasian inclinations, the same way in our country we should send a message to our authorities to review relations with Russia and other EEU member countries,” Boris Navasardyan said.

According to the latter, in the target of this campaign lie not so much EU-Armenia forthcoming agreements, but Armenia-West relations. “Processes around NK are very important. The same frameworks in Russia perfectly realize that people, who have targeted them, will always express independent opinion regarding NK conflict concessions. Naturally, their purpose to weaken their positions, exert pressure against them in NK issue, is making implementation of claims to be represented to Armenia productive,” Navasardyan said.
