Armenia is Ready to Sign a New Agreement on Combined Group of Forces with Russia
The Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation planned to sign an agreement on establishment of combined group of forces based on the existent agreement signed 27 September 2000. This was informed by RA Defense Ministry in response to the quest by 168.am when the agreement will be signed and which issues the group will settle.
Accordingly, the new Agreement has been agreed with contemporary conditions and status, and the abovementioned agreement will be invalid after the new Agreement is signed. It was stated by the Defense Ministry that the new agreement has undergone the processes of interstate accordance, and the Republic of Armenia is ready to sign that Agreement.
“Purpose of the Agreement is counteracting the armed attack (aggression) against Armenia and Russia and is targeted at undertaking practical measures of equally reflecting to security threats and other challenges, as well as protect territorial integrity of Armenia and Russia,” the letter read.
However, the Annex to the Agreement defining order of regulation of main issues and management of the combined group didn’t contain the answer to the question whether the group will function in the territory of NKR or not.
