We’ll Give Signals in which Direction the Economy will Develop: Karen Karapetyan is at the National Assembly (Live)

NA MP Lyudmila Sargsyan posed questions to the newly appointed Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan at today’s session.

“You stated at RPA session that you have 2 programs, and you minimum program is restoration of the country’s economy, speedy resolution of issues and etc. Which steps will you undertake to that end? Former Government adopted a range of priorities of political struggle—fight against corruption, elimination of monopolies, assistance to SMEs. Will these issues be priorities for your Government? Which will your cadre approaches in Government formation be? Which cabinet will you develop, is there lack of cadres?” the MP asked to the PM.

In response K.Karapetyan said that he had stated that there’d be 2 phase-to-phase programs, in the first phase the steps will be engaged, which they may do in near future, and for the second one they’ll need time to know in which direction they’ll take the country.

“There won’t be anticipations that we’ll quickly change our economy, however, we’ll give signals in which direction our economy will move forward. We used the program of former Government. We’ll develop our economy to the direction of establishing maximum favorable conditions for the one, who creates additional value. This may seem a general formula, however, this is much for now, as all the countries, happy by the rating are those, where a creative person, the one creating additional value, feels happy. Countries with resources aren’t included in that list. How we’ll choose the Governmental staff? Maximal professionally. Will party belonging play its role or not? If the cadre is professional, then he/she is a good one. Good cadres lack in New York, London, Moscow, and of course, in Yerevan,” the PM concluded.

L.Sargsyan wasn’t satisfied with the PM’s reply. She asked to point certain steps to be implemented by him.

K.Karapetyan said it’s been 1.5 day, that he’s the PM, “When I say speedy changes, I don’t mean we won’t implement steps, we’ll implement concrete steps, however, we need to understand, that there is not a magic stick, and at the moment, if we want to observe any change in our economy, we should implement systemic changes, I frankly and openly say: the condition of our economy is rather difficult.”
