Azerbaijan Rudely Violated Fundamental Principles of International Law by Initiated War against Artsakh in April: Luhterhand

Youth Parliament under the Artsakh Republic National Assembly on September 14 hosted Otto Luhterhand, international law expert, professor at Hamburg University. NKR NA press service informed about this.

Professor Luhterhand, whose scientific interest towards Karabakh and self-determination of its people rose yet in 1992, appeared with a lecture on “Azerbaijan’s blitzkrieg against Artsakh and International Law.”

The German professor stated that Artsakh Republic, not having international recognition, fully corresponds to all criteria of defining it as a state and proved its vitality throughout these years of independence. Otto Luhterhand stressed that fundamental principles of international law expand on all subjects of international relations despite their recognition status and by the war initiated against Artsakh in April, Azerbaijan has rudely violated a few fundamental principles of International Law, in particular, the principle of non-application of violence and threat of violence. According to professor Luhterhand the April war by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh was an act of aggression, whole responsibility of which lies on Baku’s political leadership.

Then members of the Youth Parliament touched upon possible view of Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict settlement in the context of fundamental principles of International Law, comparative analysis of legal grounds for Artsakh and other non-recognized states and other issues concerning Public International Law.
