“Food and beverages on board “Pobeda” Airlines won’t be free, a separate price to be fixed for the luggage”
Anna Chobanyan, Head of the Air Transportation Regulation Department of the General Department of Civil Aviation, told a press conference today, during which she stated that programs implemented with budget airlines have been launched in late 2013, when the “open sky” policy was adopted, “It’s been a long time that we were failing to reach to the point, that a budget airline served our market, however, currently an airline announced that it’s ready to serve “Shirak” airport in Gyumri.”
In her words flight by “Pobeda” Airlines are planned only from Gyumri to Moscow, “Upon initial data, 3 flights a week is planned. Possibly, certain changes will be made, as we don’t have the final bid by the airlines. Regarding the network of routes, even if this direction is only to Moscow, we have the possibility to continue other destinations from Moscow. If it’s so affordable from our country to Moscow, then price for our flight will be cheaper.”
She also stressed, that quality of service provided by budget airlines is lower, than the classic ones, “It’s normal, as in case of different services the airline doesn’t save means, it decreases the quantity of services. In this case, food and beverage on board aren’t free, and a separate price is fixed for the luggage. Besides, it serves in not so high-quality airports. For instance, “Zvartnots” is a high-quality airport, and in this case, the budget company, choosing our market, has focused on “Shirak” airport. We hear many opinions, that if this is a budget airline, then low-quality service supposes security issues as well, but it’s not so.”
She stated, if it’s proved that any airline carries out damping in the market, respective measures will be taken.
