By EEU membership we don’t make friends to the detriment of the other: Karen Karapetyan

At today’s Q&A session with the Parliament NA MP Edmon Marukyan said to Karen Karapetyan that in the Government’s action plan Armenia-EU cooperation was recorded in a lower level, than what we have and asked the PM to introduce Government’s view from Armenia-EU cooperation perspective.

The PM replied, “Let me open a secret, that appendix was submitted by the MFA, it doesn’t differ from former action plans with one difference: this time it was enumerated. If we use this tribune, so that our EU partner listened to us, let me say, in fact they are a big donor and investor, and we should reply properly. By membership to EEU we don’t make friends with one to the detriment of the other. Have we limited us in relating to EU in doing trade, socializing, making investments, by membership to EEU?—of course, not. In other Government actions plans the EU is on the same place. Moreover, we rather openly talked to our EU partners, who also expressed such a concern.”

E.Marukyan noticed that he voted for Tigran Sargsyan’s action plan, as it was stated in it that Armenia will fulfill the Association Agreement with the EU and will sign it, “That is to say, other provisions have been enshrined, and I have the impression that we are busy with self-censorship. I also observe that we aren’t signing framework agreement by artificial prolongation, which also generates from the low level of that cooperation.”

The PM stated, if there is such a concern, then he’s always open to talk about it, “But let’s understand the platforms as well, if you’re not against.”
