The EU has been main trade partner for Armenia: Garegin Melkonyan

“The EU was, is and will be main trade partner for Armenia regarding both import and export for the simple reason that with a strict purchasing power market of 500 million and being so close to Armenia, naturally, it will have a solid role in Armenia’s trade cooperation,” Garegin Melkonyan, RA Minister for Economic Developments and Investments, told at today’s parliamentary hearings on “Economic component of Armenia’s foreign policy.”

He introduced privileges of GSP+ unilaterally provided system and stated that there are good prerequisites to have a more comprehensive package in the future.

“From investment perspective today Armenia has certain privileges in the region, being a country, which implements balanced trade policy as an EEU full member, we are capable to develop good relations with the EU, Iran and Arabic countries, which is important from the perspective of business,” the Deputy Minister said.
