I once again urge the armed group to immediately give up their weapons. We have been and we will be patient; life and health of every citizen of our country is precious to us. In this situation, we have not taken the “traditional” route. We have given the armed group an opportunity to take a step back. I hope they will come to senses. However we will not allow to make our entire society a hostage of this tense situation.
V.Ambartsumian International Science Prize has been established by the President of Armenia in 2009 and at present is one of the important awards in astronomy/astrophysics and related sciences. It is being awarded to outstanding scientists from any country and nationality having significant contribution in science. The Prize totals USD 500,000 and since 2010 is being awarded once every two years.
“I cannot understand a stance of a number of journalists (of course, not everyone’s) from Armenia and Azerbaijan. You want to overcome the conflict or to deepen it inventing news based on Your taste. It is a dangerous activity”, she said. She said at the press conference she was asked about the situation in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey, “which was more like a political manifesto which I had to disrupt.”
“We, as the leadership, will do everything possible to avoid shedding of blood of our compatriots in our capital, in our country. Much Armenian blood has been shed. None of us is insured from wrongdoing. The best way is the dialogue and listening to one another,” he concluded.
“RPA supports exclusively peaceful settlement through negotiations. Tragedy has been recorded, we have lost our Armenian brother, one of our defenders,” Eduard Sharmazanov said, stating that today number one issue is solving the issue through negotiations.
“I definitely see solution to this issue, for this very reason I’m here with my teammates to talk to the Police and say that it’s time to bring the issue to the political community and attempt to give political solution to the issue,” Vartan Oskanian, former FM, head of newly-formed “Consolidation” political party, told reporters in Khorenatsi Street.
“We talked on different issues, he noted our observations, fixed our position, made notes on directions of all proposals saying he’ll come again to discuss related issues. He is free to submit his proposals to the public,” he said.
“With concern we note reports on excessive use of force and mass arrests by the police. In that regard, we call on the authorities to observe the principle of proportionality in handling public manifestations, which applies to both peaceful and violent gatherings. Likewise, demonstrators need to refrain from violence in the exercise of their civil rights.”
Tension on Khorenatsi Street wouldn’t calm down. After the clash of the policemen and demonstrators injuries have been recorded, on which RA Ministry of Health provided information later. According to the Ministry of Health 51 injured people applied to Yerevan’s hospitals, 29 of which are policemen. “15 people with injuries received outpatient medical care.
“Naturally, the discharge of the situation requires tolerance, and the gunmen should understand that the Constitutional norm must be in force in the Republic of Armenia,” Artsvik Minasyan, RA Minister of Economy said touching upon the recent developments.
