Russia-Georgia-Armenia-Iran energy corridor feasibility study to be ready soon

Feasibility study of Russia-Georgia-Armenia-Iran energy corridor of North South Project will be ready in the second half of 2017, Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of Russia, told reporters, RIA Novosti reported.

“Currently we have discussed two energy corridors with Iran’s Energy Minister—one of them is Russia-Georgia-Armenia-Iran. Currently feasibility study is being developed, which will be ready in the second half of ongoing year,” Novak said.

“The second one refers to Azerbaijan, we agreed that in mid-March our specialists will meet and discuss project implementation,” he said.

Works on North-South Project with 1.2 GW carrying capacity was launched in December 2015.

On April 4, 2016 Energy Ministers signed the “road map” of the project in Yerevan, which anticipates joint development of feasibility study, as well as Memorandum of Understanding and Co-operation in the field of Energy.
